- Gangadhar Meher, known as the nature poet of Odisha.
- He was born on August 8, 1922, on the day of the Shravan full moon.
On the Shravan full moon day, he adorned the arms of his father Chaitanya Meher and his mother Sebati Devi. - Although he did not read much because of financial problems, he still had a deep passion for literature.
- Lal Naruparaj Singh, the then zamindar of Barpali, gave him the post of Amin (Patwari).

- He continued his service in the post and was transferred to Sambalpur, Bijpur and Padmapur and was eventually transferred to his hometown of Barapali on a monthly salary of 30 / -.
- She was married to Shantadevi at the age of ten.
