Seeing such carelessness of her daughter, her father got angry and started saying to the daughter, Oh wicked daughter! Today you have not worshiped Bhagwati, because of this I will marry you with a leprosy patient or a poor person.

Sumati felt very sad after listening to her father and started saying to her father – O father! I am your daughter and I am under you in all respects, do as you wish. Whether you want to marry a king, or a wrestle, or a poor person, with whomever you want to marry, do it, but do what is written in my destiny, because it is under man to act, but it is under God to give fruits.

Hearing the words spoken fearlessly by the girl, that brahmin got angry, married his daughter with a wrestle and became very angry and started saying to the daughter – O daughter! Enjoy the fruits of your karma, see what you do by relying on luck. Hearing such harsh words of her father, Sumati started thinking in her mind – Aha! It is my great misfortune that I got such a husband. In this way, considering her misery, the girl went to the forest with her husband and spent that night with great pain in that deserted forest with fear.

Seeing such a condition of that poor girl, Goddess Bhagwati, manifested by the influence of past virtue, said to Sumati – O humble brahmin! I am happy with you, you can ask for any boon you want. Hearing this word of Bhagwati Durga, the Brahmin said – Who are you, tell me all that? Hearing such a word of Brahmini, the goddess said that I am Adi Shakti Bhagwati and I am Brahmavidya and Saraswati. When I am happy, I remove the suffering of the creatures and give them happiness. O brahmin! I am pleased with the effect of the virtue of your previous birth on you.
